6690

by Nancy Wood
(Bruce Township, MI USA)

I have had my Viking 6690 since 1981. It was $1200.00 US even back then.

It has been a fantastic machine with only 1 repair in 27 years and even I could have taken care of the problem.

I can still get bobbins and needles for this machine so it shows no signs of slowing down.

The Viking 6690 sewing machine was advanced for its time.

Now I am considering buying a Viking serger but I haven't done enough research yet.

Loved my Pfaff 6690
by: Jo Jolley

I had a Pfaff 6690 and used it to death for everything from sheer princess fabrics for my daughters' dressups to heavy trampoline edge repairing when it started to unravel along the sides. It was a great machine. It finally died after 23 years. I was heart broken.

I am now looking for a new machine. I have a friend who says I should get a Janome 6600P but I don't like our local dealer and quite frankly I want to see about another Viking. I just loved my last one. It was like a dear and faithful friend for so many years.

SO I am wondering if anyone knows anything about the Opal series. The 6690 sure was a great machine. I can't imagine Viking would put out anything less.
