Bernina 1080 sewing machine

I have used and abused the Bernina 1080 sewing machine for 13 years and I love it. It gives whatever you need and mine has never broken down. I have put thousands of hours of use on it.

The only thing I wish was different would be having more than one button hole. Other than that it's the greatest.

I am Shobha Pillay and live in South Africa Durban City. I owned an Empisal sewing machine when I joined a craft class few years ago.

My sewing Teacher insisted that I buy a Bernina which she said was the MERCEDEZ BENZ of all sewing machines. That year Bernina 1080 had just come out and I bought it to please my teacher. But I am so pleased with myself for making that decision then.

For all these years my Bernina 1080 has given me a tremendous satisfaction while sewing, quilting and crafting. I will never part with it, although today there are so many new beautiful combination machines are in the market.

My Bernina 1080 is for keeps!!!

I bought a new Bernina 1080 in 1996 for $1200.00 a huge amount of money for me at the time and I was a beginner sewer. I recently got it back out after no sewing for several years. My spirit soared as I love the ease all it can do and I have never had any problem at all.

Well worth the money this machine will probably last me the rest of my sewing days and my teenage daughter learned to sew on it and will "inherit" it.....maybe. I also bought a used Bernina serger that I love also. Absolutely no problems with either machine. Thank you for opportunity to rave about it!

I recently met an avid quilter of abstract type quilts that has won awards/prizes all over USA she sews on a 35 year old Bernina and has no plans to buy new machine. This lady lives in a major home and is a retired professional. If she can still sew on a 35 year old machine it reinforces to me that I made great purchase.

I've had my Bernina 1080 since December of 1996 and it's been great. I say it's BEEN great only because I was in the middle of quilting a baby quilt and the power completely went.

Can anyone tell me what might have happened?

I've had this fantastic machine for almost 20 years and it is still fabulous! The only time I've had to replace something was when a new puppy chewed the cord! There's a space in my home where it is always out and ready to use. And use, I do.
