Bernina 1090
A Highly Versatile Sewing Machine

The Bernina 1090 sewing machine was manufactured several years ago.

Therefore you can't get a new model 1090 anymore, but these sewing machines are still being sold as second-hand products.

Bernina 1090 Review

The 1090 by Bernina is one of the few computerized sewing machines that were sold in the market around 17 or so years ago. By this we mean that it's equipped with preprogrammed controls for more precise and faster sewing.

It also comes with a free-arm sewing surface to allow you to work on the cuffs, sleeves, and legs of the pants of your garments. There are also a number of adjustable selection functions in the model 1090. You can adjust the length and width of stitches, the pressure on the presser foot, as well as the position of your needles.

Advantages Of Bernina 1090

1. This is a highly versatile sewing machine.
Some machines are created to work on specific types of sewing projects. But the Bernina 1090 sewing machine, despite being so simple, can actually be used for different kinds of materials and various types of sewing projects.

It can conveniently handle sewing, embroidery, and quilting tasks. You won't have any problem shifting from one task to another.

2. It's made of durable materials.
The Bernina 1090 sewing machine is something you can keep for several years. It can even work without breaking down.

There are several consumers who have had their 1090 model for almost 20 years. This could be because of the parts that make up the sewing equipment. They are made to resist early signs of deterioration.

3. The needle up/down position setting is ideal.
You may be struggling controlling the movement of your needles when you're sewing. Usually, the sewing equipment ends up in the up position, even if you want it down.

You may have to manually adjust the needle first before you can resume sewing. The good thing about 1090 sewing machine from Bernina is that you can set the needle in either up or down position, depending on which you prefer.

4. The presser foot allows you to change pressure easily.
You need to have control on the pressure added to your fabric. This could be attributed to the fact that different sewing projects require varied stitches, which, in turn, need various kinds of pressure applied. The 1090 from Bernina gives you the freedom that you definitely need.

Disadvantages Of Bernina 1090

1. The throat is not that long.
If there's one thing that you hope would be improved, it would be the throat of your sewing machine. It's small, and you may need to actually buy a new one, if you're desperate to have a longer throat.

2. Scouring for second-hand ones is a challenge.
There are only few people who are selling these units in the market. This is because majority of its owners don't want to throw them away, even if they already have new ones with them.

Consumer Reviews
I decided to buy a new Bernina sewing machine, but I still opted to keep this. It has the best satin stitch ever produced. I don't think there's any machine that can produce the same stitch and be as comparable as 1090.-Gayle
