Bernina 240 machine

I use the Bernina 240 in my year 12 VET fashion class i started last year in year 10.

Although it is a complicated machine it is very quick to learn i had not much experience when i first started and now i blitz at it.

It's the perfect sewing machine i couldn't imagine using any other...

My wife bought the Bernina Activa 240 sewing machine a couple of years ago and really loves it.

I had six pairs of Levis' jeans that needed some repairs around the back and very close to the thick edge of the patch packets. I asked my wife several times to mend these for me but she never had time.

I decided I would try it myself. I went to the sewing shop and purchased the thread and needles to sew the heavy 14 oz. denim. When I showed my wife what I had done she could not believe it! I was impressed myself.

I read a little in the instruction booklet and did exactly as it said. The Bernina Activa 240 sewed through the denim and thick three layer seams like to was sewing through a cotton shirt! I never would have believed it.

I told my wife that even though I have never sewed before I really enjoyed it. What a great machine!! I won't hesitate using it in the future.

The Bernina Activa 240 was my first machine in thirty years. I didn't sew. Now I love this machine. I do thread painting and fabric landscapes.

The Bernina Activa 240 machine is so forgiving for different threads, (sometimes different bobbin thread). I am not forever fiddling with the tension. Sews through layers and layers without trouble. I lug it to class.

This little machine is a workhorse and doesn't get a lot of tender loving care. (what I mean, it gets stashed in the trunk, lugged up the stairs in a trolley, dumped in the back seat of the car) Yet....it purrs along. This is a good machine.

Now that I have had it three years I am ready to work larger so a wider throat machine would be on my list.

I had a 930 Elite Electronic Bernina Record for many years which I did the bulk of my learning on. This was and still is a fantastic sewing machine ( I have passed it on to my daughter).

I bought the Bernina Activa 240 because it has a threading mechanism. The more I use this machine the more I think it is just premo. I don't think I will be purchasing another one, this one will see me out. Overall I find it is a fantastic sewing machine and so easy to use once I sorted out all the buttons.
