Bernina Aurora 430 w/Embroidery Module & BSR

by Lynn
(Oklahoma City)

I'm really happy with my Bernina Aurora 430 sewing machine but am looking to find a backup to use when embroidering. I do an awful lot of quilts and have started quilting the blocks individually using my embroidery module...this of course means I cannot sew while the machine is in use.

Since I've been so pleased with the 430 I am seriously considering the Bernette...I am curious though if the Bernette has the capability to move the needle left or right.

Thank you!

picking a machine
by: helena llewellyn south wales uk

hiya, glad to see someone is happy with their sewing machine. thank god for small mercies. read the reviews on the machine and it will tell you all you need to know about the function of the machine. also read the reviews that we put on after we have bought them. we will tell you exactly what we think and what they do or don't do. i do a lot of quilts and stuff aswell. i have a hand driven singer from 1910 that loves quilting. it takes the thickness no problem. get one if you can. i found mine in a skip. cleaned it, oiled it, put a new needle in and altered the tension a bit and bingo, one quilter that never breaks down on me. second hand shops have them if you want to look about for one. you won't be dissappointed. i keep my fancy embroidery machines for fancy stuff and my old thumper for heavy stuff. good luck with what you buy. regards helena

Aurora 430
by: Stephanie

I would give the Bernette a miss if I were you...they are not actually made by Bernina but are outsourced to an Asian factory for very inexpensive production and are not the same quality as you have in the 430.
I know of many people who have been disappointed with Bernettes across the range on offer.
If you want a second machine and you want Bernina why not consider either saving up for another Aurora or even a good condition second hand Bernina?

Bernette
by: Anonymous

I picked up an older Bernette 430 made in China for Bernina in Switzerland at a garage sale. It is wonderful and has a beautiful stitch. The machine is all metal and in "like new" condition with all the accessories, books, etc. I understand the frustration with products made out of the country, but this machine is great.
