Bernina Bernette 92c

by crfs
(nj)

I bought my Bernina Bernette 92c on sale (I think retail was about 800? I got it for around 500. I love this machine. Before I had a Brother (non-computerized).

I love the computer screen. Everything about the machine I love.

The only problem I've had is the light ,to the left of the needle, has burned out twice. I bought it for myself May 2008. It says in the book that they are lifetime lights. I called, and had to pay for the new fuse/light. And, it burned out again!

I called and the woman said that the same thing happened to her machine/light. I'm supposed to call tomorrow to see what is going on.

Other than that, the machine really is fantastic smooth, feet clearly marked on the little resource pull out drawer.

Highly recommend the Bernina Bernette 92c sewing machine (esp when it is on sale!)

hiya, if these are lifetime lights why are you paying for them to be repaired. and didn't they chech the wiring. seems like some fault at work there. investigate further instead of just agreeing with whatever they say and pay

When I called about the light,it was before the one year, so I assumed it was going to be free. When I picked it up, there was a charge (and it was driving me batty - the light was BLINKING - not just off). The woman was not there, so I just paid (it was 9 bucks for two - and no one could figure anything out). She said to call on Friday....I forgot to call her yesterday. She was going to have the tech look at the one on the floor, first, before I bring mine in. So, I'll call today :)

Thanks for the advice!

hi, i don't think they are having a mechanic to look at your machine carri. or if they are he doesn't have a clue what he is doing. don't ask them, tell them that you want it checked by a registered mechanic or you will start legal proceedings, as the fault has been on the machine from the beginning, as this woman is taking you for a lemon. sorry for being so harsh love, but that is just what they are doing. the fault is electrical and wiring can catch on fire. tell her this and don't let her fob you off with nonsense. be firm and stand your ground, because at the end of the day she is in the wrong for taking the piss out of your obvious good nature. and you certainly shouldn't be paying.

fire hazard
by: carri

I never thought of it as a fire hazard - excellent point.

I'm going to call the mfr tomorrow, before I call her in the morning

Don't worry - I'm not going to let this go by the wayside - thanks!!!

Hi I am a sewing machine mechanic, Can you be more specific on the issue you are having. If your presser foot does not engage the needle plate when the lever is pulled down then that can mean that something is binding in the mechanism or the shaft that supports the presser foot needs to be adjusted to it makes it to the bottom.

Wait my light burned out too after only about 5 months!! It was flickering so I pulled it out and now have to wrestle with a desk lamp for lighting...not that great. Maybe I will call the company. Any how as far as the Bernette 92c I like it as a machine bit have a couple of quips..First the machine is very loud in idle. The electronic aspect hums and so alot of the time I want to shut her down while picking out seams etc. Annoying. Also the arm is too short for quilting king sized quilts! It is only about 6 inches or so! Besides those three things it is a nice machine.

I am trying to buy a used machine for my wife who is learning to sew and have just come across an almost new Bernina 92c and am curious if that is a good machine. I can get it for $250 and it is in new condition. Please reply to rick@amdesign.com
