Bernina Minimatic

I'm a beginner in quilting and my brother-in-law gave me the Bernina Minimatic sewing machine.

The Minimatic sews like a dream but I can't figure out how to refill my bobbin on it. Any ideas?

I even took it to my first sewing class and the instructor couldn't figure it out either.

How th o thread
by: Anonymous

Put bobbin in the short spindle sticking out on the top of the machine, far right.
Then push the white plastic thing in front of that up against bobbin.
Turn the centre part of the wheel, on the right SIDE of the machine anti clockwise until it loosens so the needle doesnt go up and down.thread the thread under the little cap of the metal thing sticking out at top left next to the white plastic wheel that changes the tension. In the direction of the arrow on top if you look closely!
Wind thread around the bobbin a few times to secure and put you foot down on the pedal!!!!
Good luck.
You'd think someone there would know....

What model number?
by: Leslie

What model is the minimatic? My 807 I've had for over 30 years, would it help if I sent you a copy of the manual? I have a friend with the 830, and she has her manual too. Let me know. gr8time2sell@verizon.net

Help, Bernina 807 mini matic feet !
by: rhonatasker@btinternet.com

I have aquired a bernina 807 minimatic with feet nos...168,470,030,016,007,285,and 33, these numbers bear no relation to the current feet numbers, some of them have same numbers !!!! I do not have an instruction book either and I dont know what the use is for all the feet, except 168 is a rolled hem. 285 free arm embroidery/darning,and 007 is the zipper foot.016 looks like a 'blind hem foot. but after that I have no idea what they are used for.... I could guess, but might be wrong... and ruin work! maybe someone could get back to me PLEASE!!!

Bernina minimatic 807
by: Anonymous

I was given a new Bernina 807 Minimatic some 30 years ago by my grandmother and it turned out to be the machine they used in the sewing lab at university - I am still using it and loving it! It is everything a fine sewer needs! As they say there is nothing like a Bernina stitch!

I hada sewing machine which refused to sew polyester and other synthetic materials so bought a bernina minimatic 38 years ago... IT HAS BEEN BRILLIANT!!

Over the years I have had a new drive belt as the old one stretched and the electric foot control has been repaired because it started to run buy itself... I still LOVE it!! I just love my ,now old, minimatic.

To Freda

Try Ebay - I just purchased a minimatic there yesterday; probably paid too much, but I wanted a high-quality, basic machine, and when I compare the minimatic to what I would have gotten for comparable money for a new machine, I still think I came out ahead. I guess I'll never know for sure. The minimatic I purchased came with the instruction manual, many different feet, was recently cleaned and oiled, and looks to be in excellent condition. And from the sound of all the glowing comments about the minimatic on this site, I got a great machine! :^)

Good luck, Freda!

Benina Minimatic 807
by: Geraldine

I have had my Bernina minimatic for over 40 years and its as good as new. I've recently taken up quilting and my teacher told me never to part with the machine which she described as a 'little gem'.
Incidently, the darning foot is wonderful for free quilting and I've recentl;y bought a 1/4 heming inch foot which is wonderful..

Cost Bernina minimatic 807
by: Anonymous

I have just got hold of a pretty mint bernina minimatic 807 from a charity shop for £8.00. I think i got a good deal. I am also interested on when these machines were manufactured? Where they in the 50s, 60's or 70's? it has a Bakerlite footpedal and switches so i am assuming its pretty old. Anyone got any ideas?

Bernina 707 foot pedal running by itself
by: RKelly

Hi - I went to buy a second hand 707 this afternoon. But the machine ran by itself - there is a problem with the foot pedal. Does anyone know if this can be mended at home or does it need a professional service? The guy selling it is going to try and mend the foot control himself but I am a bit wary of this, even though he is only asking £50 for the machine - I don't want to get an electric shock off the machine! Hope someone can help. Thanks.
