Brother Innov 1200

by Carol
(Vicksburg, MS)

I have had a Singer sewing machine all my life (straight stitch, with very few stitching). I have been wanting to further my experience with more features besides just sewing.

I have read on internet for weeks and weeks, made copies for comparing. (had stacks of paper). Talked to one of my Home Ec. teacher and all. Visited Brother sewing machine stores here in Bryam, MS. After comparing the Singer to the Brother, knowing what I had found out I brought a Brother Innov 1200 with sewing and embroidery in it.

I fell in love and would not have any other brand other than this Brother. It's so easy to operate, you can not go wrong. Now, getting more experience behind me and going to sewing classes for embroidery, cotton theory, and all I now want to trade my Brother machine in for a 2800D. You will not be sorry you purchased one.

hiya, you are extremely lucky to get a machine you are happy with. lots of us have bought new only to find dissappointent in them. don't rush along with embroidery as it has many faces. especially with the software running alongside the machine. take your time to learn and enjoy. i have been sewing and embroidering for 50 years and i still find things to learn. it is an art and a talent. if you go into a more advanced manchine too soon you will hit problems and confusion, so, please take your time and enjoy the learning experience. regards helena

I appreciate your comments. I have not really sewn in a few years now but my daughter is getting married an has asked if I could make her bridesmaids dresses. My sewing machine is a Singer and to tell the truth it is not my first but I think it may be my last. Would you recommend this machine for everyday use? Zippers, buttonholes etc?
I would appreciate a response as I feel that comment boards are much more informative.
thanks
Caroline

hiya, the thing is with machines today is that the technology is packed in and doesn't really work. look at the home machines that basically only do a few fancy stitches a button hole and a bit more. if you buy a cheap one it won't last long. (i tried that ) you will have to invest a few bob for a good one. look at the reviews for machines in that catagory and then look at the reviews that we write, they are two completely different things. we tell you what problems they have. singer is ok but they are all the same really today. it's pot luck really my lovely. and you learn as you go along. i have a singer from 1910 in a treadle table and i love it it never breaks down it you just want to flat sew get one. second hand shops sell them for nothing and they are wicked. i had mine out of a skip and it is a dream. i hope this helps. good luck and kind regards helena
