Brother Innov-is QC-1000

It's either a lemon or failed technology. The Brother Innov-is QC-1000 sewing machine cost close to $2,000 -- on sale! -- in March 2009.
Worked great for about 1 year, then since its annual check-up in March 2010 I've had to take it back for repair 4 times, as of October 2010. I clean the bobbin case and replace needles all the time, but the Brother Innov-is QC-1000 continues to skip stitches.
I was told I was using the "wrong batting" so I changed batting but it still skips stitches. And shouldn't a machine called "Quilt Club" at that price be able to sew on ANY batting?
And Brother Customer Support said I was using the wrong size needle, so I started using the recommended bigger size. It still skips stitches.
I bought a top quality thread and it still skips stitches. What an expensive disappointment.
