Brother XL 2600 sewing machine

by S. Atch
(Ontario, Canada)

I just got the Brother XL 2600 sewing machine, and so far it's been very good.

I haven't had any troubles with it. It does reverse stitch fine, and changing thread, bobbins and foot is super easy.

nice starter machine
by: helena llewellyn south wales uk

hiya, i just looked at the review for this machine. this machine does a lot. i like the automatic bobbin wind. and the cutter. they have combined it with an overlocker. are you a new seamstress? if so make sure you know the machines capabilities and don't put too heavy a material through it. and clean around the bobbin area with a little brush after every use to prevent cloggage. if you find cotton snapping use a little silicone spray on the cotton and this will help. enjoy. regards helena

Brother XL 2600

I bought one for my daughter to start sewing, I can't seem to get the tension right. I have tried the tension control, but it seems as if the bobbin tension isn't quite right. Any suggestions?

lisa's tension
by: helena llewellyn south wales uk

hiya lisa, there is a little screw on the bobbin case that can be altered if the tension is too tight or too loose. i always think lefty loosey, righty tighty. that's how i taught my kids and my neice. pull the cotton through the tension on the bobbin case and if you think it is a little tight for instance alter the screw a little at a time. i also mark where the screw originally sits with a little dab of nail varnish to marry it back up if need be. or visa versa if it is too loose. i can tell by pulling the cotton, but that comes with experience. it will be trial and error then with the top tension and the bobbin tension. it should come right with a bit of time. good luck and i hope this helps a bit.

Mine does not have the automatic bobbin winder ;o(
I can't find the right bobbins that will work. The manual says class 15, but they don't work in the winder, they're too tall. Which IS the right size bobbin?

Try rewinding the bobbin making sure its not to tight or loose. The standard size 15 do fit. I have even bought dollar store bobbins with thread that fit.

Great sewing tool
by: kim

The brother XL2600 works very well for my projects I even bought additional accessory feet
and as I get better at my sewing skills I appreciate the features more.

I have recently purchased a brother serger and can't wait for this to be delivered.

I do agree with the comment about finding the correct bobbin size to fit the XL2600 I still have only those bobbins (I think it was 2) which came with the initial purchase.
Very frustrating indeed when you have multiple sewing projects going on at once.
