Elna Model 23 C, Zig Zag Plana

by Karel
(Corpus Christi, TX)

I have an older model Elna sewing machine. It's model/type is a 23C. Commonly called Elna Zig Zag Plana. I need an owner's/user's manual.

At the very least I need instructions & diagrams for threading, bobbin winding, inserting, threading. Can anyone help?

Elna 62C Manual, yes please!

Thanks for responding. I now have the threading & bobbin info I needed but still wanting info about the built-in zigzag. No, the model 23 doesn't use cams. It does seem to have some features that are somehow accessible by turning the width knob from vertical to horizontal? Do you know anything about this? If your manual for your 62C has some info on this I would love to get a copy. Also, can I do a buttonhole on the 23? Also need info on feet. How do I know if I've got a long or short shank? How do I know what feet will work on my machine? With or without some adaptations? Any info you can give me will be much appreciated. kareldb@live.com

I have an elna 62c but a free arm (plana means a flat bed) I can send you a copy of my manual. It will be off some, but should be somewhat similar. If you have an Elna dealer locally they should be able to show you how to thread it at least. Does yours use cams for stitch patterns besides the built in zig zag? There are some companies that have manuals available for sale, but it is irritating to have to buy them for $20. You may want to keep an eye on
e-bay and offer to pay for copying and shipping a manual from someone who is selling one. Good luck.
