Janome 5018

by Mary
(Calgary)

I've had Janome 5018 sewing machine only a few years, machine seized up and will cost me over $200 to repair.

Have used it only for mending and a few simple projects so am heart-broken at spending so much on a machine that has become useless.

Will search this site for reviews of other machines and will not be buying Janome again.

Janome seizes
by: Anonymous

I took the machine back to where I purchased it and the woman who works there told me she has worked there for 10 years selling this very same machine and has never had a complaint - she said mine is the first machine she has ever heard about having this problem. She said she has never heard anything from the company about this kind of problem. So now I'm stumped whether to pay to get it repaired or just toss it out and start over with a different brand.

Another Janome seizes
by: John

My wife has a Janome 5018, had it for a few years, very light use, noticed the machine slowing down, took it to a Janome dealer and they said we need to take it back to the original dealer of purchase, once piece inside had warped and another was going, the dealer told me to ask for a replacement of the entire machine, not a repair. We plan on taking it to the original dealer this week.
