Janome Memorycraft 8000

by Connie Burt
(Mulion.OR)

I have owned the Janome Memory Craft 8000 machine since they first came out and it is the best machine I have ever owned.

I have 4 other machines of different brands, and believe me I'm going to get another Janome as I know they have gotten even better!

New to sewing
by: zekebolden

Hello Everybody,

I am new to sewing, but very excited to be trying something new. I have a couple of projects in mind that I wanted to create so I went and bought a singer machine from Wal-mart. As I was telling a friend about what I wanted to do, they gave me a Memory Craft 8000 (used) as a gift. I don't know what I have and really haven't taken any classes. Please give me some advice and recommendations.

Thanks,
Zeke

re my Janome 8000
by: Carol

I bought my 8000 off of e-bay got a good deal and it has worked great. I love the sewing part, but was not happy with the embroidery part. Not that it didn't work just wanted more flexibility.
If you go to fix ya and search for the janome 8000 there is a man who has the screens for this machine if yours has faded. He sent the codes to check on some other things on the machine. He is in Australia. But he is more than glad to send advice.
I almost traded in my 8000 when I bought my Designer 1. Glad I didn't. It just sews so good. I'm going to try and keep it alive as long as I can. It does one idiosyncrasy it gets hussy when I try to sew very slowly, it pops up over load. All I have to do is turn the wheel and off it goes. I would love to find a good tech to check it out. They are so hard to find. If anyone knows of someone who does good tech in the Dallas
Ft.Worth area please let me know. thedcwards@gmail.com
so glad I found this web site.

you can fix some things that Janome won't admit you can
by: Anonymous

Hi. If your bobbin winder isn't working, you need to take it in and have the little rubber "wheel" that runs it replaced. That is all that is wrong if your bobbin winder doesn't work but the machine is otherwise perfect! The repair place told me that the part is a buck or two.

Mine has worked perfectly for the last 19 years and hasn't had anything wrong with it. However, when its quartz read out started to fade such that I couldn't see it any more in a lit room, I thought it was done for and bought a different machine. Before I bought the new one, I also contacted Janome and they were pretty darn indifferent and weren't offering any way to fix a machine whose "light" was burning out but otherwise was working perfectly. I did a lot of internet research and found that the touch screen still worked if you just knew where to touch--so the problem wasn't with the mother board. Then, I found a replacement light that Janome doesn't sell on ebay, from "grieto" and Janome won't endorse it. Because it isn't a "Janome" part, the repair place couldn't guarantee. Well, if I'd installed it myself I wouldn't be able to guarantee it either. But, the repair place told me that with the new back light the machine is "better than the original part. I am champing at the bit to go pick up my revitalized machine. I had way too much invested in memory cards to let it go without a fight. I can highly recommend this "aftermarket" part and because of Janome's indifference and their determination to sell new machines rather than replace a simple part that would fix the problem, I probably will never purchase another machine from them.

Janome 8000 memory craft
by: jo

i purchased a used memorycraft 2 years ago i love it. once i got used to a computerized machine. works really well until the bobbin winder stopped working. but other than that its a really good machine. i love my Janome 8000 memory craft - have made a bunch of quilts with it and free motion quilted them but am looking for something more geared to quilting maybe with a larger work area.

If you live in Australia I am happy to put you in touch with my technician - hard to find but worth it as my machine is now as good as new after having the screen replaced!

NH 8000 LCD screen
by: Tech 31 years

You must have your dealer send in the old screen to get it rebuilt. We charge around $300 for parts and labor. But every dealer and location is different. If you want this done act quickly because there is talk of not having this fix in the near future.

SCREEN
by: LYNDA

I love my 8000. But need to have the screen replaced. I went to the sewing center and basically was told it would cost me more than the machine was worth. But they wouldn't give me a price. I really don't want a new machine. Anyone had this done in the states.

Janome Memory Craft 8000
by: Nina Kelly

I LOVE this machine. I've had it for many years, I've never had any trouble with it. I used to spend a lot of time and frustration trying to get the tension correct on my other machines.

With the Janome Memory Craft 8000 sewing machine, I just sit down and sew. What a relief! It came with quite a few extra feet, which I use often. I hate the zipper foot that came with it and I never use that one. This machine is strong, it sews through almost anything I put under the foot.

Even though it has solid-fill embroidery built-in the machine, I have never used that feature since I have an embroidery-only machine.

Won't buy another Janome????
by: Tech 31 years

The NH8000 was a landmark machine for New Home. The first of it's kind. A lot of new technology.

Every technology changes and quite rapidly. Take Microsoft system software. Everytime you turned around things changed and at the expense of the consumer getting all the bugs out for them. Plus on some upgrades you had to buy new hardware. But I bet you did not go out and buy a Mac. You probably still have a computer that runs that frustrating software. My point is New Home/Janome was just changing with the times on the NH9000 technology.

These machines if still in good condition are great machines but are now quite dated. So don't give up on Janome, it's not their fault the technology changed. And in order to stay competitive they must change with it.

Janome Memorycraft 8000
by: Bronwyn

I have owned my Memorycraft 8000 since 1994. It has been regularly/annually serviced, and created many, many patchwork quilts, amongst other sewing.
Last year I was able to have the screen display replaced by a Janome technician in Sydney, Aust, as the original screen 'faded' - black crept in around all four edges of the display and the panel lost it's light/colour.
I have numerous embroidery cards to go with this machine; but no inclination at the moment to use them - but I will again one day.
I would recommend this machine to anyone!
Bronwyn, Canberra, Australia.

Janome MC8000

I too love my machine BUT Janome totally let down its MC8000 owners when they came out with the MC9000. For this reason only, I will NOT ever buy another Janome sewing machine!!!
