Kenmore 158-540 motor and manual

by Vallery McCoy
(Shelby, NC, USA)

1964 Kenmore sewing machine, model #158-540. Uses the plastic cams to make different style stitches. This was my first sewing machine. I bought it used for $50. I need a motor as the other quit. When I bought the machine in 1967, I didn't get a manual.

If anyone knows the amp motor I need. Please let me know. The motor is no longer available from Sears.

This machine is one of 4 I have, but she's the one that clothed my boys and me! I want to teach my granddaughter how to sew on it and give it to her. Thanks for any help in locating a motor.

I have the same machine. There is a guy in Woodland Hills, CA that can get you any of the parts you need. He works out of his house - John's Appliance. The model number for the motor is 2142.
