Pfaff 1470 sewing machine

I bought the Pfaff 1470 sewing machine about 25 years ago, from a PX in Germany. I have used it daily ever since. I once took it in for repair and the only thing wrong was that I had worn out the contacts on the foot pedal.

The repair man was so impressed by how much I used my machine that he gave me a new one free. That was over 10 years ago.

Since then I have had the Pfaff 1470 machine cleaned once. It is a wonderful, long lasting, hard working machine. I tell everyone that PFAFF is the best and only machine for me.

old pfaff's

you haven't bought a new one then. years ago they had fabulous machines, i used them in my work for many years. then just over a year ago i bought the 2170. what a load of crap. the machine was a dud from the off and had to be replaced within weeks. the second was was equally as faulty. i had to threaten court action to get it put right. would never buy another pfaff. wouldn't even have one if it was a free gift.

Don't buy a new Pfaff.

My aunt was an excellant seamstress and the only sew machine she would have was a Pfaff. I was a Singer fan, but when my Singer was just the basic and I needed more, I tho't I would change to a Pfaff 1470. What a piece of junk . Had it fixed 3 times. Had to wait 2months for the part to come in , Fixed ready to go. Worked 5 hrs and started the same thing over. Took it back to the Sew Center and said that was it. They gave me the full amount I paid for it to place on another machine, which is a Janome. I love it. Sews like a little tank on anything. I have made 8 quilts and hemmed jeans, etc. I wouldn't have another Pfaff . They are a bucket of metal nothings.

aren't you right there love. pfaff has lost its good standing and good name in the eyes of its customers. i wonder when they are going to wake up and smell the coffee.

Pfaff creative 1472

I bought a used creative 1472 Pfaff 12 years ago and have used it immensely I have sewn countless bridal and bridesmaids gowns, thick leather booties, drapery, quilts...and I have to say it has never given me any problems.....still runs perfect.. I love my machine!

hiya, that's the thing see amy, the old ones are great little work horses. but the new ones are a different kettle of fish. the technology is crammed into them and it is not perfected. i bought a 2170 about 18 months ago and had terrible problems with it. it went back and i had a new replacement, that had it's own faults. i played holy hell to get it fixed properly. works fine now, just as it should and what i payed for.

was going to happen...once PFAFF was bought-out by a conglomerate, the QUALITY would plummet. I have had my PFAFF for over 16+ years and NEVER EVER had a problem. I wonder if the newer ones are all metal like mine??? Mine weighs a ton. I could do curls with it! Much like all companys, the quality goes down only for the sake of money. :(

Pfaff Creative 1473 CD

I have had the Pfaff Creative 1473 CD sewing machine for 20 years now and loved it! The only problem that I have had is when I took it in for new brushes to a center that was not a Pfaff dealer and they installed the wrong brushes.

But other that than it has been a flawless workhorse. I believe that this is in part the "Made by Pfaff in West Germany"... I see that now they are no longer really made by Pfaff or in West Germany and from the reviews they are not the same high quality.

I was looking to retire this machine and buy myself a new Pfaff but after reading the reviews of the new machines I think that I will keep using the 1473.

Bought pfaff creative 1472 brand new as a gift to myself. I had never used a pfaff. I fell in love with this machine. That was over 10 years ago. Never a problem and still runs great. I will never trade-up.

Love the Pfaff 1473CD

I have had my Pfaff 1473CD for nearly 20 years. I LOVE IT. I bought an Expression 4.0 last year and have nothing but trouble with it. Went back to my 1473. Best money I ever spent.

Pfaffs Quality Has Sunk

I had a Pfaff that was my Mom's and it sewed wonderfully for 20 yrs+, just a mechanical machine and I guess that's why ...

Bought the Pfaff 2027 3 yrs ago, and it's quality is NOWHERE near the older Pfaff's. It was made in Czech. not Germany and I've had many problems with it.
Thought of buying the new Expression last year, looked at them but have heard so many complaints about them I've become gunshy of Pfaffs now

German engineering once was excellent, all made elsewhere now and the Pfaff quality has sorely suffered ... very sad

I inherited my PFAFF 1472....love love love this machine. I need a manual, but this is a dream machine.
