Pfaff 2056

by Joyce L.
(Davison, MI 48423)

I purchased a Pfaff 2056 3 1/2 years ago. I loved the machine while I had it, but had to take it in for cleaning and repairs. It has been FIVE months since I took it in to the Pfaff recommended dealer for repairs.

The problem is the circuit board, which needs to be replaced. They are on back order and manufactured in Europe. I spoke with a Pfaff representative and asked them if they thought five months was an inexcusable amount of time to wait for machine repairs, and they cannot (or refuse to) answer me. No one in the company has any idea as to when I can expect the repairs to be completed.

I keep calling, but have yet to find anyone in the Pfaff Corporation that cares about the problem I am experiencing with service. The general response I keep getting is "these things take time - sorry". After my experience with this terrible repair and parts problem, I would not recommend purchase of a Pfaff sewing machine to anyone.

Obviously the company cannot provide timely repairs -- but even worse, they don't seem to care that this consumer cannot get my machine repaired. It is the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Pfaff 2042
by: Anna

I was considering buying a used Pfaff 2042 quilting machine, but after reading your comment (and a couple of others, with pretty much the same coments on service), I think I should rethink my purchase. I have had a Pfaff 1472 for about 30 years and it has been virtually maintenance free. But I would like to get another machine for quilting. Any suggestions??

Pfaff
by: JoAnn K Bear Lake MI

I have had a Pfaff 362 for many years and loved it. They call it vintage on EBay. It worked well until the last couple of years. I had it serviced but that didn't help so I figured it was time for a new sewing machine. Of course Pfaff was on my mind until my sister told me about her Janome. She sews purses and simple quilts. So I bought a Janome recently and hate it already. It will not sew through denim seams or decorative cording. I don't sew often but when I do, I want the machine to do the job. That's what brought me to researching a new Pfaff machine. I started reading all the reviews (mostly negative) and I don't want to go through that hassle. What a bummer. I'm glad I read your story and other's. Hope your machine is working by now.

Pfaff 2056
by: Cindy

I am a skilled sewer but have been stuck in the old times using a 1970 Singer to refine my quilting skills. I finally bit the big bullet and bought my first "non hand me down" sewing machine the Pfaff 2056.

This machine seemed really out of my league when I first looked at it and it was also out of my budget of $600CDN. But after a week of sewing constantly I'm glad I splurged and purchased this wonderful machine. I don't know the technical aspects of the machine you can find some great websites explaining all of that, all I know is that without it my quilting projects would still look like a jr. high school kid assembled them and not a grown woman.

I don't believe its all in the machine but with a machine as smart and steady as this one it may be. I have yet to have any real adjustment issues, I'm still learning what it can do but it just goes and never messes up. I would recommend this machine to anyone striving for just that little bit better then what the old machine could do type. I'm thrilled with it and hope it lasts the next 40 years as my Singer did.

Would not recommend this machine to anyone. Have since bought another brand. Their cheap model and it runs so much more smoothly. Pfaff is VERY noisy. Bobbin case has never been right.

Frustrated
by: Rita

I purchaseded the Model 2056 3 1/2 years ago.
Unfortunately ,the circuit board has a short in it and needs replaced. It will coat $ 200.00 to replace it.I brought this machine thinking it would last me a long time but I don't want to spend a dime a it. I'd like to send back to the Manufacturer.
Especially when you pay $ 2000.00 for it new, you expect it to last a while. I also had problems with the bobbin. I like the machine when
it works. I believe it just that model. PfaFF
SHOULD DO A RECALL OF THAT MODEL!
They also should sell extend warranty on these machines if the computer circuit board is going to have problems.
I had s singer and Viking and they were both good machine. I had them both around 18 years.
With no problems.

circut board too expensive
by: Sylvia

July 2011,
I have had my Pfaff 2056 since about 2005 or early '06.
I paid arouond $2,400 for the machine at a dealer. I loved the machine and serviced it regularly. Just a week ago the circut board failed and the touch screen no longer responds. I took it to the dealer only to discover that the cost of the replacement part is $600. I am livid. A machine in the 2-3,000 price range should not break down so easily and cost so much to repair. I will not get this fixed. I can still sew a straight stitch though I can't change the stitch length.
I will miss the IDT but maybe I can find another brand with a similar feature.
Too bad for Pfaff as I would have been a customer for life and I sew A LOT!!!

Pfaff 2056 NEW
by: Susan

I purchased my 2056 about 4-5 years ago and it has been maintenance free. I do find the tension off at times but found it is very sensitive to the threads I use, like a fickle female. :-) I would like a machine with a longer arm for quilting purposes, and would consider another Pfaff.
