Pfaff Creative 2.0

by Sharon
(Australia)

People often write on forums if they have a negative experience with a product, but rarely if they have a positive experience.

I purchased a Quilt Expression 2046 3 years ago and experienced problems with the thread breaking when I did free motion quilting. I then looked at the possibility of purchasing the new QE 4.0 (because there was more room to feed the quilt through) but read so many negative reports on this website, I had second thoughts.

However I have a friend who is a dealer and she allowed me to take the machine home to try. I had no problems but still was concerned that the machine was made in China.

I then decided to purchase the Pfaff Creative 2.0 which does both quilting and embroidery and is made in Sweden. I had the machine for a week and the thread tangled and broke when doing free motion quilting. Oh No! Returned it to Pfaff who said there was a minor adjustment to the thread uptake lever which should have been done at the factory.

I have now used fmq extensively with no problems at all. I love the machine and am very happy with it. I live in Australia and apparently the machines were released first in the USA and UK and original problems were rectified before dispatch to Oz.

Pfaff / Viking
by: Alice McFarland

when i bought my last NEW viking #1+. I also checked out the Pfaff & really liked the button hole better on the Pfaff. I went back the next day & talked to someone else who made another buttonhole on the viking & it was much better then the one that was made on the same machine the day before so i know adjusting a settings on a machine can make all the difference & any machine can have a problem. The important thing is to find dealer that stands behind you.

Very disappointed with my Pfaff creative 2.0 sewing machine bought from a quilters show/exhibition in March 2010, have had many problems and breakages with it from day of delivery, has anyone else had any problems. I could not recommend.

What a waste of money.

I have had nothing but trouble since buying this machine. I was told by a person in the shop where it came from that I should alter the tension on the stitches, use a different stitch to that which is indicated in the manual, use the reel of cotton in the upright position as the cotton is too loose in the horizontal position!! It was returned to the shop and has now come back to me saying tere is nothing wrong with the machine and I should have a lesson on using it. I have been sewing for many years and above all, I can READ, (the instructions). As for the lesson, unfortunately I was not informed of that when I bought the machine at a show otherwise I would have left it and bought local.

Creative 2.0 review
by: Sheila

I have had my Creative 2.0 for six months now and am delighted with it. I have used it extensively for embroidery work and quilting. I did have some thread breakages when doing embroidery, but discovered that the needle was the cause of the problem. I changed to an embroidery needle with a larger thread hole and have had no problems since. The smaller hole causes the thread to shear from the constant backward & forwards motion of embroidery and some very soft threads break even more.

The stitch quality is fabulous and the larger throat is brilliant for quilting. I also purchased the quilting extension table, which is well worth the extra money. The IDT (integrated dual feed) means no more misaligned seams and everything goes together beautifully. The user interface is very simple to use, no going into different menus to get the stitch you want. The Creative 4.0 has a full colour screen, but as the software organizer in the 2.0 gives you a colour worksheet to work from, I couldn't justify the extra expense. I am a couple of years from retiring and this machine will give me many years of happy sewing.

What a waste.

I reported the Phaff Creative 2.0 in October 2010. I now have a Janome Horizon, replaced reluctantly, by the seller, and received reluctantly by me. It would appear that a fault with the tension plate was well known by the seller and Pfaff, there had been a lot of returns. Why didn't Pfaff call in all of the machines to correct this, as car firms often do. I had the Janome as I could not trust Pfaff because of this information being withheld. It had been highly recommended. I still have a worry that if it has to be returned for a problem, that they will put the blame on me again!!
