Pfaff Expressions 2.0

by Valerie
(Canada)

From the day I brought it home, the Pfaff Expressions 2.0 sewing machine was a lemon. Dual feed does not work well, thread catches in the bobbin area and requires fairly lengthy untangling.

The stitching is very poor with loops on the bottom. Tension setting doesn't work well even after repair at my own expense.

This is just a brief overview of some of my problems with the Pfaff Expression 2.0 machine. Not to mention the fact that service satisfaction is zero even when dealing with VSM. Run with your money.

I have less than a month left on my warranty and endless calls. I will have to buy another machine if I wish to continue sewing.

Pfaff Expression 2.0
by: Carol

A total disappointment. Originally purchased the Pfaff Expression 2.0 sewing machine in fall of '09 and had about 6 trips (100 miles round trip) to work on its problems before they gave up and gave me a replacement model. Now the same problems are occurring.

There is some tension problems that make machine quilting a nightmare. I invested sooooo much money into something that I thought would make quilting more fun and it is so frustrating!

I really wish I had done my homework and picked a different brand.

PFAFF NEVER AGAIN!
by: Anonymous

I am also having tension issues and it took me forever to pay for this machine. I feel like they think I am crazy but I have finally pulled out my old Pfaff variamatic 6085 and shoved my disappointing $3K machine aside. A HUGE and expensive dissapointment. I had returned the previous machine which apparently had plastic workings made in Checozlavakia and supposedly with the credit got the floor model of this supposedly amazing machine, I was not given a warranty or a receipt and am now stuck. I also wish I would have done my homework, they used to be so good. I will probably never be in a position to buy another machine so I am stuck with it and I am furious.

Pfaff are a disgrace
by: Anonymous

I bought a Pfaff Expressions 2 last year at the Knitting & Stitching Show at the RDS in Dublin.
It has given me nothing but problems ever since. The thread breaks continuously. It won't free motion quilt. It is a complete nightmare. Where once I looked forward to sitting at my machine, now I do it with trepidation. I hate my Pfaff and I think the company is a disgrace, selling shoddy goods at inflated prices.

Pfaff expression 2.0
by: Namaste

The main reason I bought the Pfaff expression 2.0 model is for the mid- arm space for quilting. The machine does all the regular sewing stitches just fine, just the free motion quilting is not working at all! I had the machine in for service twice already, all sorts of adjustments made, now it's working even worse than before ~ if that is possible!!!

Skipping stitches, breaking thread, very tricky with threads, too, seems to be quilting well only with very skinny threads, like aurifil 50 weight. All in all, I am very frustrated and cannot recommend this model to any fellow quilter!

Pfaff Expressions 2.0

I have never been so frustrated!!!!!!!. My Pfaff Expressions 2 is a heap of junk. It's been back to the dealer 3 times since I bought it a year ago. The thread breaks continually. I get loops on the bottom. I've ripped more seams than I've sewn since buying it.

I used to love to sew and bought the pfaff for the large throat. Now, I sit down with dread. I know that my blood pressure will go up and I'll end up with wobbly stitches, broken threads, ripped seams. I can't even find an email address or phone number to contact them. Why are large companies able to sell such shoddy goods and get away with it?

Their manual is useless just like their machine. I hate it and want to find some way of letting them know. Anyone able to help?
Soooooooooooo Frustrated.

MUST READ
by: Great Quilter

I am a Pfaff owner and I have a lot of knowledge about these machines. The problems I am reading about are only half truths brought about by Frustration and poor support by some dealerships. The main problem was with the first generation Pfaff 2.0's, they had a open take up lever and the thread could jump out of it if you are already having some other problems, like poor threading or bent needle causing a skipped stitch. If the thread jumps out of the take up lever then the machine would jam. This problem does not occur with normal use and that is why the problem was not caught before production on the early machines. The problem has been fixed with a new lock in take up lever and this lever can be put on the older Pfaff 2.0's to fix this problem. There is a high demand on these levers and there could be a wait to get one but a lot of dealers are putting a small piece of shrink tube on the end of the lever and this solves the problems until the new levers come in. The other problem I have read about are not real problems and are must likely user issues. Always remember nobody who loves their machines go one the internet and write comments it is always the few unhappy people. I love my Pfaff and I know they are one of the best quality machines made using only the best materials and I know my Pfaff will outlast most other machines on the market today. I will be sewing with my Pfaff 20 years from now and that is why you buy a Pfaff.
Also not all Pfaff dealers are created equal and most of these problems could have been taken care of by a good capable dealer and some good education on the use of the machine. Pfaff is the best don't let anyone discourage you from looking at one, you should decide for yourself.

pfaff expressions 3.0
by: Aunt Nancy

Has anyone else had problems with the sensormatic buttonholer foot on the pfaff expressions 3.0 sewing machine? Intermittently my machine will sew a straight line and not make a buttonhole.

I have been careful to follow the instructions in the manual. I line up the markings on the buttonholer foot properly before sewing. I never know when the buttonholer will malfunction and I cannot understand what is causing the problem.

Pfaff Expressions 2.0
by: Terry

HI, I am not a sewing expert but bought the Pfaff Expression 2.0 and so far have not problems. I use it with the Fab-U-Motion Stitch Regulator and love it. I didn't need the higher 3.0 or 4.0 because you can use the extra features any with the Fab-U-Motion. Even when free motion quilting with the machine alone I had not problems. I wonder if mine is a later model with the lever arm. Hope my luck holds!
