Quilt Designer

by Don Brillhart
(Calumet, MI USA)

I bought a used machine for my wife and it has been nothing but one problem after the next. The local HV Store seems to be a con operation only interested in selling a new machine.

The repairman seems to do just enough to get the machine running but we are back in a couple of months for more repairs. I finally took it to the Bernina dealer who fixed it and indicated that we had been conned by the Viking "repairman".

We have 6530 and a 6540 machines which run like new, but have been maintained by non- HV repair people. No more HV products for us until there is a different, more reputable dealer nearby.

Older Vikings
by: Lynn Cranmer

I think the older Vikings are the best. The newer ones and the service is much different. What a shame. I have a 6690,6440,6570 that have never had problems like the 936 overlock. The materials inside rusted out. This machine is only 4 yrs old, unlike the 25 + on the 6000 series. Lynn Cranmer

Older Vikings
by: Mrs_goodwrench

I have to agree with Lynn, older Viking machines are better. I have owned 2 older Vikings and they performed flawlessly. I only sold them when I wanted to upgrade to more features. Currently, I own a Quilt Designer I bought about 8 years ago. It has been wonderful. Free motion quilted several quilts, including a queen-size one, have sewn leather, 5 layers of demin, etc. It is a work-horse and it sews fine fabrics, too. I have several quilting friends that own newer Vikings (with embroidery) or newer Viking quilting models and they have had numerous problems. My advice to someone is buy an older used Viking and you will be set. I love my older Viking.
