SILVER VISCOUNT 9500E

by Grant
(Birmingham, uk)

I purchased the SILVER VISCOUNT 9500E sewing machine (used mostly by my wife) recently and after a long search for the best deal. I looked at several brands including Pfaff, Bernina and particularly the Janome 4900C.

The Price of the SILVER VISCOUNT decided me as the cost was about £200 less than the competition and the build quality seemed very good. So it has proved so far.

It is very quiet in use. Simple and easy to use and thread, with a built in needle threader, drop in bobbin and a large selection of feet, including a walking foot, all in a neat onboard compartment. It has a twin needle facility.

Choosing and modifying stitches is simplicity itself and there are 501 to choose from. There is a built in memory for 60 of your favorite stitches. The overlocking stitches are useful and give a suberb finish to edges and hems.

Controlability is first class, from one stitch a second, to 900 a minute, all very smooth and vibration free. You do not need to even use a foot controller, as there is a speed control slider on the machine itself, which works well.

The SILVER VISCOUNT 9500E sewing machine handles several layers of thick material with ease. A few months of use has revealed no problems or faults so I cannot comment on durability, save to say reading others reviews of this and similar machines from SILVER VISCOUNT was a key factor in my choice.
