I bought this beautiful all black vintage Singer 66 from a local vacuum and sewing machine service store after I read most reviews on websites' postings about sewing machines. The store offered a lifetime warranty (I guess as long as the store still in business), so anytime I need service I can just drop by.

The only lesson in sewing I have received in my entire life was the time I bought this machine; the seller taught me some basic stuffs about this particular machine and how to operate it and he let me practiced sewing in the store. This vintage singer 66 is very user friendly, it allows me to learn through trials and errors without frustration.

Yes, I didn't take any sewing classes. I was planning to but either the price for sewing class was too high, the class location was too far, or already full for the next two months. But, my vintage singer makes my sewing experience so far to be very fun (also with the help from information posted on the internet). Even though this machine doesn't have a reverse button (I learned sewing terms from the internet, thx God for internet), it was easy to figured out how to do backstitching with this machine.

Basically, this machine allows the seamstress to explore anything with this machine and to be creative. I spent very small amount of money for a wonderful new hobby. I would recommend the Singer 66 sewing machine to anyone, especially to beginners. Plus, this machine has been proven to last this long :) I'm confident this machine won't give me a hard time; financial wise, vintage straight stitch singer is a good investment.

Note: My creations so far are pillow cases; apron will be next. :) Still need to learn about making patterns. I'm having so much fun with this machine.

hiya i have one from 1910 in a treadle table and i absolutely love it. i have modern machines also, but to relax and enjoy the most i get on the old thumper as i call it. never fails me and only needs a little clean and oil periodically. it loves thickness like quilts and hums as it sews. machines with new technology will never beat the old singers. i have been sewing for over 40 years and learned on this machine. my 8 year old niece is learning on it now and so have all the other kids in the family even the boys. it is much loved and a part of our family. enjoy yours as much as i enjoy mine. kindest regards helena
