Singer Confidence 7463

by Vicki
(New Jersey)

I was given the Singer Confidence 7463 sewing machine as a gift for my birthday. I'm an experienced sewer and really wanted a Pfaff but can't afford one. The person who gave me this gift is a generous person and I appreciate the effort. But it was defective right out of the box.

The automatic threader didn't work. A new machine with a broken threader. With multiple attempts to work the threader, a plastic lever finally snapped off.

I read on this site and on another site that Singer is now a cheaply made brand. I can verify that claim!

It's going back to the store where the Singer Confidence 7463 was purchased for a refund.

My plan is to save up for the Pfaff model I'm interested in and the person who spent $200 on the Singer will help off set the price for me.

Don't waste your time or money on Singer. It is truly not the Singer our mothers and grandmothers depended on!

true, true, i have a hand driven singer from 1910 and it works like a dream. i sew loads on it. don't buy a pfaff either. i can assure you that the 2170 i bought last year has been nothing but problems and pfaff customer service are non existent. they don't even answer your emails or letters or answer the phone.

Don't get a Pfaff, you will regret it.

Don't get a Pfaff. My aunt had one for years back when, but the new ones are a bucket of nothing. I had to take mine in for repairs a week after I bought it right out of the box. Fixed it three times, the last time it lasted 5 hrs. The sew center took it back and placed all the cost on my new Janome. Have made 5 quilts and clothes for my self . Love it.

I BOUGHT THIS IN OCT 2008. IT IS NOT USED DAILY BUT AT LEAST WEEKLY. I HAVE MADE A FEW QUILTS ON IT WITH NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. THE AUTOMATIC THREADER...A JOKE, TENSION OUT OF WACK ALL THE TIME, NEEDLE BREAKAGE, FEEDOG PROBLEMS. I AM SO VERY DISAPPOINTED.

I AM GOING TO TRADE THIS IN ON A REAL MACHINE. I AM AN EXPERIENCED SEWER SO I DO KNOW HOW DO REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND SUCH. THIS IS A DOG...DON'T BUY..!

How do you load a bobbin! I just took it out of the box and watched the video, but every time I push the foot pedal to load it, it stops and all the red lights flash. Aren't I supposed to lock the needle from going up and down...it said nothing about that in the manual...help!

I like my Singer!

My Singer Confidence 7463 works just fine, despite being just a little bit noisy. I found, (after a bit of fiddling and cursing) that with the auto threader that the needle has to be in just the right , highest spot (and of course the presser foot down!). The bobbin loads and threads no problem. It's easy to use.

Christmas Sewing Nightmare
by: Anonymous

I got this machine a little over a year ago, took the first one back in less than 2 weeks with a broken threader and issues with the bobbin. This one worked better for a short time, but now that I have been using it often for the last 3 weeks on Christmas presents it has a loud knock, keeps jamming and rubbing parts. I am now not going to be able to finish my daughter in laws Christmas present because of this machine. I am extremely disappointed in a sewing machine that lasted only a year and was only used a hand full of times.
