Singer Futura CE-350

Singer Futura CE-350

I love the Singer Futura Series. I'm a Singer Dealer in Hattiesburg, MS.

At our store, Sew Select, and www.icanhelpsew.com we offer this machine at a very competitive price.

From a dealer stand point, I recommend BEGINNERS to first check YOUR LOCAL AUTHORIZED DEALER to see what they offer; such as owners classes, tips, and while you're there get a feel of the machine, and a personal demonstration.

HOWEVER,if the online price is just to good to be true and you have an experience person that is familiar with machine embroidery to help get started, than I say GO FOR IT!

But make sure you're buying from an authorized dealer, such as www.icanhelpsew.com BECAUSE if they're not an true authorized dealer YOU WILL NOT HAVE A WARRANTY, AND THAT IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT.

It doesn't matter if you already know how to sew... Machine embroidery is entirely different... it's basically computer operation... besides threading the machine (which is too easy these days.. because the sewing machines of today (like the futura) have automatic needle threaders that thread the machine for you!!!

then you drop in a pre-wound bobbin... yes, i said pre-wound... you don't even have to wind a bobbin, AND no more pulling up the bobbin thread, the machine pulls up the bobbin thread when you start sewing!!!

The futura models even come with its own computer software, the embroidery capabilities will not function unless your computer is connected via a usb cable (which is provided).

Having a dealer for support will help you become familiar with the software, rather than pulling your hair out trying to figure things out on your own.

Furthermore, you need to learn about stabilizers, embroidery thread... (there is a difference from regular polyester or cotton sewing thread), you need to learn about hooping your fabric, embroidery needles, and so on.

These things will take a lot of time, and google searches to do on your own...

That's why I stress TO ANYONE NEW TO MACHINE EMBROIDERY TO CHECK YOUR LOCAL DEALER FIRST. They will show you first-hand how to operate the machine.

However, if you're not brand-new to machine embroidery, or you have a friend that can provide one-on-one, than I say, you should get the futura, it's fun, easy, and economical!

It's high-tech and wallet-friendly, coming from a 23 yr. old, I understood the software functions in a flash... it's a microsoft based program, that's really easy and self-explanatory.

The NEW GENERATION OF SEWERS ARE ON THE RISE, AND BECAUSE OF THIS, machines are being marketed to the younger generator, and the Singer Futura is no exception.

It appeals to me, because as far back as I can remember, I've been using computers... so anyone that is good with computers (which is almost everyone today or at least all tweens, teens, young adults, and everybody out there made in the 80s like me, or made in the 70s (chicka-bow-wow) haha.. will really like this machine!

The Futura combines Sewing and Embroidery at a price you can afford... now that's a deal you can't beat!

This machine is horrible. Every time I have embroidered with it, I've had a problem. I have to hover over it, crossing my fingers that it will complete the project without a major catastrophe. It has ruined several baby blankets and in some instances I have had to manually hold the needle housing in place so that the needle wouldn't bend and break.

Yes, it's economically priced, but if you factor in all the headaches and extra time fussing with and redoing projects, then I think you definitely don't get your money's worth!

Looking for a class
by: Carolyn

I purchased a Futura this summer from an authorized dealer online. I am not new to sewing and thought with the online manual and instructions I could master the embroidery techniques. Unfortunately, I have found this to be more than a little frustrating and would love to take classes. I live in Branden, MS and there are no dealers in this area, therefore no classes that I have been able to find. Does anyone have any idea where I might find a class that will teach me how to use the machine?

Singer Futura
by: John

I spent $800+ on the Singer Futura embroidery machine for the Wife last Christmas. We moved in the middle of the year, so the machine had around 20 hours on it when it started having timing problems.

We took it to a local dealer/repair station as provided by Singer Customer Support. The guy told us that the gears were busted and the repairs would be around $450 not including shipping to Kansas City and back.

Singer gave us several emails of song and dance touting that the gears were not covered under any of the warranty since the 12 months had elapsed. Only after complaining to the BBB did they concede to possibly extending the warranty a few months to repair the thing.

I still would have had to pay to ship and return. What happened to Singer's 25 year warranty? I understand wear and tear, but for 800 bucks, I'd think they would invest in a couple bronze gears instead of the nylon crap that should go in a cheap fishing reel.

I wouldn't buy another Singer from 1980 or newer if you made me. They are Chinese junk and should be driven out of the country. Hiding an office in TN doesn't give you the right to be an American Co. anymore. The warranty is worthless and the customer non-support is a sham.

Try waiting on hold for an hour just to get the machine, not once, but three times. I can't say enough to express my lack of faith in these people or their products.
