Singer Ingenuity

While a fairly basic machine, the Singer Ingenuity sewing machine is a work horse.

My complaints are few, and except one, trivial.

I do not care for the location of the presser foot lever, nor do I like the fact that you have to virtually disassemble the machine to properly clean and oil it. The location of set screw for the needle could be better also.

It is a personal pet peeve, but I do not like the 'auto-up' on the needle, perhaps I was spoiled by my mother's old machine, but there are times when I want to have the needle down (so I can lift the presser foot and turn the fabric) without having to grab the knob and manually plunge the needle.

However, my major complaint is with the electronic presser foot pressure control. You can not adjust the pressure in any way. Two layers of cotton muslin should NOT cause a shifting problem, and yet the top layer constantly drifts, bunching up on a basic straight stitch hem.

Complaints side, the Singer Ingenuity is still a sound machine, and worth the money.
