singer machine 2732

by christine sanspariel
(calgary ab)

I regret buying the Singer 2732 sewing machine, it only works best on heavy duty material, if I try to sew thin fabric it bundles up too much.

Another regret is I bought it off e-bay, big mistake, it came in one piece, no problems but without the manual the top part that control the stitches was missing, I can only do few stitches, straight, zag zig, and hardly any decorative might I add.

Over all my rating for the Singer 2732 is 3 out of 10,

Buying from Canada doesn't help they still charge you the same rate as American currency. I didn't get some parts that came with the machine so that's no help to me either.

Ebay

ALWAYS pay via PayPal on Ebay. They will arbitrate all disputes and are the only realistic chance you have to recover your money or resolve the issue.

Singer 2732 frustration
by: Corrie

I have had a bit of fustration with trying to figure out all of the right settings to make the Singer 2732 machine work. But overall its not a bad machine you just have to have patients with getting it going.

I would much rather sew with an industrial machine, but we can't always get what we want. This machine though does work just fine for my everyday use. (curtains, pillow cases, pjs, bags, etc)

I bought the Singer 2732 sewing machine
by: Pam Sanborn

The Singer 2732 sewing machine is an irritating piece of junk. Anytime a thread gets into the bobbin area the whole area (feed dog plate etc) must be taken apart before you can clean it. Then getting the bobbin holder to reseat properly is a joke. You'd think putting in the part that holds the bobbin would and should be simple. It isn't.

I can't even begin to tell you how sorry I am to have this machine. It was bought as a Christmas gift three years ago so I can't even throw it away. (I wouldn't in flick it on anyone else). I'm stuck with this awkward piece of junk. The only thing I can do is (when I'm in the store) hang out where these things are sold and tell people not to buy this model!

hiya, if this was doing this from the beginning why didn't you get it sorted while it still had a warranty on it. go to your trading standards office they will help. we have a law in britain about faulty goods up until 5 years. try and see what help you can get. if you decide to sue in small claims court they will help you prepare your case, or you might have to get the person who bought the machine for you to sue. either way get some help and when you get your money back have a look around for another machine. good luck

might i also add pam, that when you are in the shop instead of telling others not to buy this machine why don't you take it there and speak to the dealer about it. instructing them that unless something is done to repair or change the machine you will be taking legal action as soon as possible as the sale of obvious faulty goods is a no-no. be very firm and stick to your guns and don't be swayed by the spiel and nonsense you will obviously encounter. also ask them if they will change it for another make of machine. tell them you have read reviews on this machine and they are all the same. therefore the machine is a dud right out of the factory. if you get the cold shoulder just sue.

Update on my Singer 2732
by: Anonymous

I got rid piece of junk, I took my machine to get it repair to see if its worth the money, it wasn't worth fixing, he give me a free built-in sewing machine with fold out table, brand name Regent Deluxe Zig Zag machine, sews norm, silk, ember. I never heard of the brand name. He told me I would have no problem sewing with this machine an advise he give me on sewing machine was any Singer Sewing Machine made after the year 2000 made from plastic is breakable, and he encouraged me to buy older machines made before the year 2000, those are durable hold on to them.

My problem with the Singer was every time I sewed with thin fabric using size 11 needle the thread bungle up.

I finally had the courage to sew with my older machine, blueish green color Regent Sewing. The test is the endurance of the Machine, I fold canvas 4 times, it sewed quietly, fast unlike my Singer 2732 it pounded like jag saw lol. No bungling up underneath from thick to thin fabric. I'm amazed with the sewing sewing machine. My advice before buying newer research thoroughly before buying your machine or else end up like, end results I'm a happy sewer.

Singer 2732
by: Christine Sanspariel

Over 6 months ago I took my singer to get it fix, and the repair man looked at my machine said the parts I needed is broken and there's no way he can find a parts and he figure it's cheaper buying a brand new one, plastic is plastic eventually it will break. He advised most Singers Sewing Machine made the year 2000, good percentage is plastic, breaks easy. Singer Sewing Machines make prior to the year 2000 is worth keeping since there made from medal. I got rid of my machine and wished I never bought it, it was loud machine made my table tremble. Plus when I purchase it the first time it only came with couple of cams. They weren't that useful. I struggle pulling out the cam, it got stuck on me and I used my pliers to pull it out.

2732 is a Piece o' crap
by: Gail

I have to agree with others who rated this machine poorly. I bought mine at Walmart (probably my first mistake) then later made phone calls to Singer to complain. Oil dripped on my fabric when I began using it and continued to drip oil for quite a long time. This was apparently due to Walmart not storing the machine properly, or so said Singer.

The machine has worked sufficiently (for the past five or six years, given the low cost. However, I finally decided to invest in a better machine. Purchased a Kenmore 19110 (really wanted a Bernina or Janome, but again, went for a reasonably priced machine. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Very pleased with my new purchase, and ready to chuck the p-o-c Singer aside.

singer 2732 doesn't sew the blues or anything else!!!!
by: Alicia

I have this machine and to me it seems like I should have just put that money in the trash. The machine was bought new and has given me nothing but problems and headaches. The bobbin case is messed up ( the manuel doesn't share part numbers to order) and the extra stitch accessories that I bought the machine for are cheap plastic. I bought this machine a few years ago and have used it very little because its so irritating. Singer, I thought was a good name and I have recently been looking at the singer futura ce-250 but am very weary of buying another singer.
