Singer Touch Tronic 2010 and Brother XL-5500

I have always had a Singer. My first was an old Treadle Machine.
I learned to sew on it and after 3 years My parents purchased a new Singer for me. I had that machine for about 15 years and wore the tension disks out on it.
My husband then bought me my Singer Touch Tronic 2010. He paid $815 for it. I sew all the time. Always have.
Last night my feed dogs froze. I have been in tears and hope that it can be fixed. Doesn't matter what it costs, I LOVE that machine. It is so easy to use and with the performance record of 0 problems in 27 years I think it is a winner.
I am using a Brother XL-5500 in the interim. It runs fine but is not designed well. The free arm is set too far back making it hard to control the fabric.
The stitches are hard to figure out and even harder to see so I have to give a lot of thought to what I need to change to. This machine is almost new.
I bought it a year ago from an older woman who purchased it to replace her Singer. She couldn't get used to it and after a week went back to her old machine. I too am waiting for my old Singer Touch Tronic 2010 sewing machine.
