Viking 6030

My mother had the Viking 6030 sewing machine and now I have it. I love this machine enough to try to get it repaired. It needs a Viking 6030 cam stack gear. Of course this no longer is being made.

I have a custom wooden table for it with many special features. If anyone out there knows where to find this part, anywhere in the world, please send email to caroltures@gmail.com. My repair person said not to buy a well-used one as it will soon break also.

Viking 6030

I have a Viking 6030 which was purchased in 1973. It is still going strong after all these years, although I did not sew with it all of those years. As for the cast metal not holding up because of age, that doesn't make sense to me.

This machine of mine is 37 years old, with no problems. The reverse was stuck once, because I didn't use the machine for a few years, but that's it. I still prefer this machine over my other two for lingerie sewing, especially.

Viking 6030

I bought my Viking 6030 in 1973 when I was 30 years old. The machine was serviced once because it didn't get used for awhile and the reverse button stuck. Other than that, no problems.

The dealer I bought it from furnished me with lessons in lingerie sewing which I still do today. I have loved this machine in so many ways, but basically it's dependable, good looking, and I can just use it with my eyes closed. So easy to
use.

I would like to buy another 6000 series if I could find a slightly used one in very good condition while they are still around. I have a very nice Bernina, but somehow don't have the emotional attachment to it that I do the Viking. Guess I just plain bonded with it. We have been thru alot together.

By the way, I am referring to the Viking 6030 sewing machine here, and not my first husband who also was a Viking (second generation)! My Viking machine outlasted him! Have fun sewing!

I was just looking at sewing machines on ksl.com in Salt Lake City, and there is a Viking 6030 machine for sale in "like new" condition.
Good luck!

Viking stuff

My wife found Bishop Sewing Service in Niles, Mich. We have visited them a few times and bought some machines and parts.
Ask for Harvey- he is a former Vik employee who even knows how to drill oil ports so that you can keep them running forever. They have parts. Other 'experts' have botched up our machines in the past. These guys are great. They also sell on ebay.
