Viking Emerald 116

by Kathy
(Georgia)

I just started sewing again after a 30 year lull. I bought a Viking Emerald 116 machine and it is fantastic.

Very easy to use, the top bobbin is extra fantastic - no jams or clogs...just super smooth sewing.

I've decided to trade up though, the 116 model simply doesn't have a wide variety of stitches and I don't like the buttonhole function.

PIECE OF PLASTIC.....JUNK!
by: WineCountryCottage

I have a 35 year old heavy as lead Elna Tsp. My daughter bought her first machine 2 years ago: Viking Emerald 116. It has been used perhaps....20 times in 2 years for quilting and baby bibs. She brought it over this weekend because it is broken: the shaft that drives the needle is skewed and it actually PUNCTURED the plastic presser foot. As we began to checck this machine out....I was shocked! What a piece of JUNK. Badly designed, cheaply made....plastic through and through. Unreachable screws with internal nuts that have vibrated themselves off. It takes a magician to get that case open to just look around inside. Could not do it! Bad performance, poorly made and unable to do routine repair? Don't waste your money. And now we will see what kind of customer service we get from Viking!! NOT holding my breath!
