Viking Emerald 183

by randy

The Viking Emerald 183 appeared to be a nice machine, but a brand new machine out of the box would not work.

Not recommended. I was never able to use it. Had to take it back to be factory serviced.

Classes???
by: Frustrated sewer

Just curious, I am thinking of buying an emerald 183. A lady at work has 3 viking machines and just loves them and has been working with the same dealer for years and just raves over the service she gets from them. Was wondering if the people that are having problems took the classes from the dealers or if they tried using it without the classes. The lady at work did say that it was tricky learning to thread the machines, but once you mastered that you would just love the machine. Please reply to this post. I have been using a cheap Singer for the past 3-5 years and it just died on me. Dead, dead, dead.

EMERALD 183
by: Anonymous

Purchased an emerald 183 the 1st of November.
Having problems with the bobbin. Also having problems with the dealer I purchased it from, not
listening to me. I like the machine but don't love it. I am new to sewing and dealer recommended this machine. I am going to try another dealer with the bobbin problem. I purchased locally for the service, it is frustrating that I'm not getting it.

Viking emerald 183
by: Cindy R

I bought a Viking Emerald 183 one year ago, March 2009. Within two weeks the machine continue to sew on it's own when I had stopped. I took it back to the dealer and was given a new machine.

About two months later the same thing happened, the machine would continue to sew after I had stopped sewing. Also, the foot peddle was not responding to me. I took it back to the dealer and they gave me my third new machine.

When I started to sew again this machine started doing the same thing. I decided to ignore it and see if it would go away. One day it continued to sew on and on until I disconnected the plug. So, I took it back in. "It can't find it's home", they said. So they replaced something in it. I also got a new foot peddle to respond better. Back home we went.

Two weeks later, yes, we are back at the dealer. Now it is being sent out of state to be repaired. They refused to refund my money, but they assured me they would not charge me to repair my machine. How kind of them.

Like so many others I thought Viking was a name you could trust. Now we know better. How can we get the word out there so others are not taken in as we were?
