Viking Huskylock 936

by Lynn Cranmer

I recently posted a comment about the rust that my NEW Viking Huskylock 936 serger had. Many of the dealers would not touch it. I have had 8 Vikings in the past with no problems. They were mostly the 6000 series.

I do believe that the older ones were manufactured with higher quality materials. I did not give up on getting this $1200 machine repaired. Viking in Nashville ( the headquarters) would NOT help either. I did get it repaired at RAINBOW SEWING REPAIR in SAN DIEGO!

After 5 tries, Mark, was the only one that wanted to spend the time. There is hope out there to any of you that have had rust/salt damage to your machine. Don't give up!

hya, why is there rust and salt damage on it then? did it come with the machine? if so it is down to the storage of these machines. if it was there on opening the box you should have took it straight back and demanded your money back. still it's nice to see someone prepared to help. i would look further into this if i were you and get to the bottom of what this firm is actually selling. regards helena

Viking Huskylock 936

I've had my 936 for two years. I went to major quilting shows in my area looking at a bunch of sergers and opted for the 936 for its relative ease of threading. (I should mention that this is my first serger!) I love it!!! The computerized display that tells me where to put my dial settings and the fabric advisor are both a tremendous help. Rust? I never heard about such a thing. I am from northeast Ohio where we are not unusually dry. I wonder if the issue the other owner was having was a machine that came from a flooded area - certainly there is more to this than we know. I also have have a Viking Designer SE sewing/embroidery machine and it has been my experience that Viking sells high quality machines. I highly recommend them!

expensive door stop
by: Anonymous

I find the 936 impossible to thread, I bought it because it had the cover stitch feature on it.
Well I have never been able to use it as it is impossible to thread.

I am now using my machine as a door stop!!!!!

trouble threading 936?
by: Anonymous

If you're having trouble threading the machine use the CD that came with it. It takes you throught the process step by step. Alternatively go to the store and ask them to demonstate how to thread it. It is worht persevering - the machine does a really nice job.

re 936 huskylock
by: Carol

I bought the 936. My old New Home did not have differential feed. It was a great little work horse on cottons & other heavier fabrics.
I have had no problems with my 936.
And all sergers can be tricky to thread. Getting the lower loopers threaded can be difficult. Every thing down there is so small. I usually try to throw surgeons knot in my threads when changing colors and just run the thread thru the machine with out any material. It usually works.
Taking a class for the overlock hemming really helped. If you want to sew all the different weights of fabrics the 936 is great. It guides you thru all of the weights of fabrics. I love it. Its worth the learning how to thread it.
