Viking husqvarna 400 computerized

by Norma
(Port Richey, FL)

I bought the Viking husqvarna 400 computerized sewing machine in 1994 for around $700.00. It has paid for itself many times over and has never let me down.

I use it mostly for home projects like draperies and have also made delicate garments such as Christening gowns where I use the decorative stitches. One of the features I am pleased with is that the tension rarely has to be adjusted. The Viking husqvarna 400 sews through the heaviest fabrics and gets constant use.

To this day, I am not interested in complex machine embroidery (I think using a machine to embroider is "cheating"). It also does beautiful buttonholes (which is the reason I originally bought it).

I would recommend the Viking husqvarna 400 computerized sewing machine to every kind of sewer and I just saw a used one at a Viking dealer for $395.00 so it has really kept its value (not that I would ever part with mine).

Viking 400

I have owned mine since 1997. I bought it new and the shop went out of business. I never got my lessons and still do not know what all of the things are. Is there a walking foot for this machine?

Viking 400 - looking for bobbins!
by: Karen Lawson

I am tryin to find out which Viking bobbins to use in my Viking 400 sewing machine. I've had mine for close to 18 or 19 years now, I've always been quite pleased with it. However, I am running very low on bobbins and am having a hard time finding any that fit! My local sewing center gave me some bobbin numbers, but I don't think they are correct.

Does anyone know which number is supposed to fit?

Thanks,
Karen Lawson

I am also looking for bobbins for this machine! I emailed the company and they gave me the wrong part number--now I have a whole box of bobbins that don't fit, but none left for my machine :(

Viking Husqvarna 400 NEW
by: Anonymous

I bought my Viking 400 in 1993. It has served me well over the years. I am ashamed to say that I have not had it serviced in all these years and took it in on Saturday (1/21/2012) to have it serviced because it was starting to squeal. I was prepared to buy a new one but the salesman said there was nothing wrong with my current one and that I would be wasting my money.

I love my Viking 400 but could not justify spending all the extra money for a new machine (especially the ones that I really liked).

Currently, I'm looking for a quilt table to fit my machine.
