Viking Platinum 950e

by Toni
(Boise, Idaho)

For 4 years, the Viking Platinum 950e was a wonderful machine. I had taken it in once with a problem with stitching, which was fixed by a regular servicing & all was fine. Then the circuit board went out, but it was covered under warranty (except labor) and I had my machine back 2 weeks later.

BUT MY Viking Platinum 950e MACHINE HAD MORE PROBLEMS THEN THAN IT WENT IN WITH. Suddenly the majority of the buttons didn't work, the thread tension was too tight, the screen kept going blank--it was better before it went in for servicing.

My Viking Platinum 950e machine is still under the 5 year electronics warranty, but it is now 6 weeks later and I am being told that the part is having to be MADE (the button pad is bad), which is unacceptable in a machine that is still under warranty.

NO IDEA when I might get my machine back, and I have emailed Husqvarna to complain, and they have emailed me back and are supposedly turning it over to a regional supervisor, but nothing has happened.

Before all this happened, I adored this machine, loved Husqvarna, and recommended them to everyone I know. It seems like this used to be a great company, but now the machines are inferior, the service is lousy, and the company is close to violating trade laws--if not already violating them.

You can't advertise a warranty that you effectively don't back--like not being able to fix the problems. The 20 year mechanical parts warranty is pretty much useless if the electronics go out, because they cannot operate AT ALL without the electronics, and if it takes MORE THAN 6 WEEKS to replace one while it is still under warranty, I dread what will happen with my electronics warranty is totally up.

2 months ago, I would have recommended the Viking Platinum 950e machine to anyone. Now I wouldn't recommend Husqvarna to anyone. I am in the process of purchasing a mechanical Bernina.

It's a shame
by: Anonymous

I've had 2 Vikings, the only one I still use is the 910 serger. Both were purchased within the last 4 yrs.

I did finally switch to a mechanical 830 Bernina and couldn't be happier.
It's a shame that the current investment group that oversees todays Singers, Pfaffs and Husqvarna Vikings are clearly not listening to their customers dissatifaction. In time, when people quit buying their junk, they'll pay attention. And it'll be much too late. Never again for me.
And you are right, those 20 yr warranties are pretty worthless, as I have learned, it's usually the electronics that mess up and the machine, after being gone for service way too long, comes back either not fixed up or worse than dropping it off.

Not even 5 years old before parts were discontinued
by: Anonymous

Anyone who has purchased a Husqvarna machine knows that they will be flooded with emails about new machines coming out. What DOESN'T automatically get mentioned is that not only are they discontinuing existing machines, they are discontinuing parts for them. That 20-year warranty thing? Totally worthless. The 950e and the 955e both used the d-card to transfer embroideries, AND THE CARDS ARE BEING CLOSED OUT. What happens if you have one of these machines and wanted to use it for the 20-years Husqvarna promised? Husqvarna doesn't care. The 950e is less than 5 years old, and they 955 was being sold just a year ago.

I am SO sorry I ever did business with Husqvarna. For the expense of these machines, the lack of customer support & the total lack of concern about existing customers is just nauseating.

DO NOT EVER BUY A HUSQVARNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
