White 1740 Review
An All-Round Sewing Machine

The White 1740 sewing machine is one of those machines, that are designed to make use of many possible functions.

The 1740 from White can be your quilter, your embroidery machine, and your sewing machine for all your basic tasks.

The 1740 model is a mechanical sewing machine and includes 17 different stitches. The thread cutting mechanism is automatic, and so its threading assembly.

It has an easy buttonhole feature a top drop-in bobbin. It weighs 21 pounds, and has a carry handle.

Advantages Of White 1740

1. It's a very versatile sewing machine.
For a very small value, you can have everything you may possibly need to start off any sewing or crafting project. The White 1740 sewing machine is loaded with different kinds of stitching functions, such as decorative, stretch, and basic stitches.

It also works well with almost any type of fabric that you're going to use. You basically don't need to invest your money on any other types of sewing equipment.

2. There are several accessory feet that you can make use of.
The White 1740 model has more than 10 accessory feet that you can utilize to ensure that you can apply the right kind of pressure to the fabric once you start creating the stitches. You want to make sure that they don't come off or torn easily. The accessory feet, moreover, include the 1/4-inch foot and the even-feed foot.

3. It has a very long extension bed.
Since you're going to use the White 1740 sewing machines for quilting and other embroidery projects, you need to have enough space where you can conveniently move your fabric as well as your arms.

Fortunately, this sewing equipment comes with a very long extension bed, so you can work on those huge fabrics without any problem or hassle.

4. The automatic thread cutter and threading abilities are superb.
Working on your threads has never been this easy. You don't need to squint your eyes just to get the tip of the thread into the eye of the needle.

You also don't have to worry about getting them jammed together because you have the automatic thread cutter. It will just automatically remove the excess threads and frays of your fabrics every time you feed them into the sewing machine.

Disadvantages Of White 1740

1. It doesn't have automatic thread tension.
It would be great if the presser feet and the different threading mechanisms were paired with an automatic thread tension. This way, you wouldn't need to manually adjust the tension of the stitches, allowing them to appear smooth and even all throughout the fabric.

2. It isn't as portable as you'd expect it to be.
Since it's already flexible, you hope that it's also portable. It actually is, but you can find other sewing machines that weigh less than 20 pounds and are already electronic or computerized.

Consumer Reviews
I would not really mind if it lacks any computerized features. The most important thing is I can easily switch from one function to another without any problem. This has been with me for a very long time, and I don't intend to look for another one just yet.-Martha
