White 1780 Sewing Machine
The Quilter's Star Review

The White 1780 sewing machine has earned its name The Quilter's Star because of its simplicity which makes it very easy to use for quilters.

The 1780 from White has 2 built-in stitches, but there are 35 stitching functions that you can choose form.

It has one-step buttonholer as well as a top-loading bobbin winding system. Moreover, it is equipped with a lever that allows you to adjust the pressure of your presser foot.

It also includes a sewing surface that can be converted from free arm to flat bed and vice-versa.

Advantages Of White 1780

1. It has an excellent buttonholer.
Perhaps one of the most difficult sewing projects you'll ever do is quilting. Hence, it's a big help that it has a one-step buttonholer. This means that you can already produce holes for buttons with a single press.

2. You can conveniently convert the sewing surface.
Some sewing machines are only flat bed, while others only possess a free arm. There are even those that don't have any of them.

Fortunately, with the White 1780 sewing machine, the surface can conveniently be converted from free arm to flat bed and vice versa. Hence, you can work on cuffs, sleeves, and pant legs with great ease. You also have extra space for your very large fabric.

3. You can easily adjust the length and width of your stitches.
The White 1780 model has a dialer, which you can turn according to your desired length and width for your stitches. This way, you will be able to produce the right kind of stitch for your sewing project.

4. The feed teeth are very easy to control.
It's important that the teeth of the feed are easy to control so you can also have excellent control over the movement of the fabric across the machine. The White 1780 sewing machine comes with a feed dog control, allowing you to lower and raise the feed teeth without any trouble at all.

Disadvantages Of White 1780

1. There aren't a lot of stitches that you can choose.
There are only 2 built-in stitches and 35 stitching functions. If you want to add more designs to your quilts, you will have very limited choices. You end up wasting your creativity somehow.

2. There aren't any buttonhole styles available for you.
It's actually perfectly understandable if the 1780 sewing machine from White doesn't have any buttonhole style, considering that this is more of a quilting machine than a sewing machine. But if you want to use it for the latter, you may also like to come up with different designs for your buttonhole-a function you can pair up with the buttonholer.

3. The machine is a little bit heavier.
Today it's common for someone to attend quilting classes, and you're definitely looking for a machine that you can bring with you anywhere you go. It should be portable, without giving you any muscle strain at the end of the day. It may be difficult for you to bring this one, since the frame is made up of die cast aluminum.

Consumer Reviews
This was a gift to be by my mom because she wants me to learn how to quilt, and through enough, I did. There are a lot of feet that I can choose, allowing me to take full control on any kind of cloth. Of course, there's the beautiful quilting bar. I truly recommend this for those who are starting to quilt.-Jane
