White sewing machine model 565

by Marie Wolf
(Camp Verde, AZ USA)

I purchased a White sewing machine, Model 565 in 1966. Over the years I have turned down my husband's offer to purchase a newer sewing machine.

The White 565 is a sturdy sewing machine with above average piercing ability and a fine stitch. Great for zig zaging.

It easily sews through multiple layers of fabric and handles jean fabric well. Just as great for sewing quilts as well as sheer fabric.

I recently found a White sewing machine Model 844, ss# 90694 complete with manual and attachments. The machine is in very good condition.

Can anyone tell me the year this was made and possible value?

About White Sewing Machines
by: Old Peacock

I love my White Serger and my mother loved her White Sewing Machine for its fine strong stitch and reliability. Sad to say they were bought by Viking and discontinued (put out of business). They seem to be more dependable than other brands and so being a smaller company they were vulnerable. If you need repair now, they may be done by any general dealer, or by Viking, but it won't be a specific White dealer any more. Sad to see this fine old company go.
